Partus Sequitur Ventrem was a 1662 law that translates to “offspring follows belly” or "that which is born follows the womb" which mandated the children born of slave mothers would inherit their mother's slavery. This piece was inspired by the turmoil and emotional dissonance suffered during childbirth in this period in the United States of America. As always, the smallest-sized print is sold at cost, and bigger ones for a bit more. Interested in owning the original work? Please email me for details.
